Recreate-68- Democrats to Face Protests in Denver At Democratic

Bay Area Indymedia

It remains to be seen whether the Democrats will ultimately take their fight for a Presidential candidate all the way to the Democratic National Convention this August in Denver, but for many activists tired of the two-party system and the ongoing war, they will be demonstrating at the convention, regardless of who the final nominee is. We speak with Mark Cohen, an organizer with Recreate '68, and Mark Silverstein, the Legal Director of the ACLU in Colorado.

Denver will play host to the Democratic National Convention this August and preparations are well underway for the big event. It remains to be seen whether the Democrats will ultimately take their fight for a Presidential candidate all the way to the convention. But for many activists tired of the two-party system and the ongoing war, they will be demonstrating at the convention, regardless of who the final nominee is.

As Denver readies to sign contracts with dozens of security agencies ahead of the convention, we look at some of the concerns around the rights of the protesters and how lawyers and activists are preparing to protect demonstrators.

Mark Silverstein is the Legal Director of the ACLU in Colorado. He joins us now on the phone. Were also joined here in the Denver studio by Mark Cohen. He is an organizer with Recreate 68, a group of activists attempting to greet this year"s Democratic National Convention with the same demands of accountability and ending the war that animated protesters in Chicago 40 years ago.

SINGAPORE - I’ve been trying to observe the potential trends in technology out in Asia. It’s not that they’re behind or following the west - rather they are coming in on a totally different trajectory making it rather interesting to watch. Something I have definately spotted is that the mobile internet is going to be all about emerging markets - there are too many phones (and great signal coverage) to ignore. India has 60 million internet users… but 150 million mobile users. South Africa h

MP’s debate the ‘make supermarkets even more intolerable for single folk’ Bill

Fri, 25 Apr 2008 02:38:30 PDT
Concerned that they hadn’t had an opportunity to ban something for almost a week, MP’s are today going to have the chance to extend the ‘junk food’ advertising ban to all areas, not just TV. This is ban news, chaps. Consider; The British Heart Foundation, which supports the bill, said a survey carried out for it suggested almost one-third of parents leave their children at home to avoid rows during the supermarket shopping. Good. Leave the little spoilt brats at home, sounds good to me.
